Jill Scott's Coming Home Challenge for Sport Relief
Sunderland's own coming home. From the streets of Sunderland to the heights of European glory, Jill Scott MBE has always carried her hometown with her. Now, she's coming back.
Starting on Monday 8 June, Sunderland's own Lioness legend will take on an extraordinary 388-mile challenge, running and cycling all the way from Wembley Stadium back to the Stadium of Light in aid of Sport Relief.
Jill will cross the finish line at the Stadium of Light on Thursday 12 June, marking an emotional homecoming in front of her home crowd.
The challenge
Jill's journey will push her to the limit:
- 388 miles over five days
- A mix of long-distance cycling and marathon running
- A final 28-mile run into Sunderland
It's her toughest challenge yet, and one she won't complete alone.
Communities across the country, and especially here in Sunderland, will be right behind her every step of the way.
Why it matters
Jill is taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for Sport Relief, supporting projects that help people feel safe, supported and secure when they need it most.
Across the UK, including here in the North East, Sport Relief-funded projects are:
- Creating safe, inclusive spaces through sport
- Supporting people facing hardship and isolation
- Helping build confidence, resilience and connections
At least half of the money raised will go directly to local Sport for Change projects, making a real difference in communities like ours.
Sunderland, this is our moment
This is more than a finish line, it's a celebration of everything Sunderland stands for.
As Jill makes her way home, we're calling on residents, communities and fans to get behind one of our own:
- Line the streets and cheer her home
- Follow her journey and share your support
- Donate to help make a difference
Let's give Jill the welcome she deserves.
