Refill Sunderland

Sunderland joins global Refill movement

Are you thirsty for change?

Help us to protect where we live by reducing single use plastic, allowing our wildlife to flourish and make our communities cleaner, greener and healthier places to live.

As part of Sunderland's work to reduce Consumption and Waste - and save residents and businesses money, the Council launched a Refill scheme for Sunderland on 16th June 2022 for World Refill Day. This will help to reduce single use plastic waste by working with Not-for-Profit organisation 'City to Sea' who lead the Refill campaign.

Refill provides a platform to connect residents and their communities to places they can eat, drink and shop without single-use plastic packaging. Refilling your water bottle, coffee cup and lunch box on the go has never been easier.

104 Refill stations were already registered within Sunderland at launch, and there are now over 120 Refill stations across the area. Refill Sunderland will provide a platform for new stations to register and will help promote them.

Getting involved is easy!

Anyone can get involved by downloading the free Refill app and start to reduce their single use plastic by accessing local refill stations across Sunderland.

Registering as a Refill Station is also just as easy - either via the app or via the Refill website. Display a Refill window sticker on your premises to let us know that you are on board. To get signs, stickers or find out more, please contact our Low Carbon Team lowcarbon@sunderland.gov.uk
